How it stays anonymous
- Off until you switch it on. Nothing is shared unless you choose to.
- Only rounded figures and your area. Water to the nearest 5 litres per person a day, distance to the nearest 10 km. No name, address, location, phone number or email.
- Can’t be linked over time. Each week’s report gets a fresh one-way code, so we can’t tell that two weeks came from the same home.
- Groups of 5 or more. An area’s figure only appears once at least 5 households have shared; until then you see your municipality, province or the country.
- Self-reported, not official. Meter readings are more accurate than the calculator; we show which share of reports come from meters.
